Bratz: Forever Diamondz (PS2) is an adventure game released in 2006 based on the movie "Bratz: Passion 4 Fashion Diamondz" (Figure 1). It was developed by Blitz Games and published by THQ. The game was also released on Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS. The versions of the game for Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS were entirely different games but with the same premise. Both the film and the games are based on the popular Bratz toyline. The game starts in the aptly named Stilesville, where the Bratz live. The first phase of the game takes place in Stilesville, and the following phases are in Florida and New York City.
This game follows the previous game, "Bratz: Rock Angelz (PS2)". The Bratz are back and they're still putting out their magazine. Before we really get into the story of the game, we get to pick out a pet! We can pick out of a handful of cats and dogs. You don't get to name your animal. Each animal has a preset name and sex. I don't mind the lack of pet customization, because they're all such cuties. I generally pick Bee the female cat (Figure 2). Once our pet is chosen, we're ready to get into the plot.
The Bratz are participating in a fashion competition called America Rocks Fashion! They travel across the country in search of a talented, young fashion designer. This game has the same antagonists as Rock Angelz, Burdine Maxwell and the Tweevils of Your Thing Magazine. The Bratz compete against Your Thing. The winning designer recieves a pair of diamond go-go boots (Figure 3) and a contract with famous fashion designer Mucci Ferrari (This is the only written spelling I could find. I don't think Ferrari is right, though. In the show/game it's pronounced "fee-ARR-ee")
The young teen fashion designers are picked out in Rockwater Springs. The Bratz wiki claims this is incorrect, and I can see why by the picture of the town sign included in that page (Figure 4). To me, though, it's pretty clear that the top of the R is missing some paint. The sign is very rustic.
The Bratz choose Mandy Pickett as their first designer while Your Thing pick Kristy Baker, who is pretty much a clone of the Tweevils with redder hair. Note: the movie and game have different stories. A lot more goes on in the movie while this game is a bit more to the point.
